I depart for Nairobi, Kenya on Sunday 11 May to attend the “African Christian Professionals Forum” (ACPF) Conference on Family Values 12 – 15 May. In addition to speaking and moderating panel discussions, I aim to strengthen the pro-family network in Africa.
The ACPF Conference is one of the largest pro-family events to be held on the African Continent. It draws together pro-family groups from almost every African nation for 3 days of intense discussions, strategizing and collaboration to defend the family and promote Biblical values in African Parliaments, the media and through civil-society initiatives.
US based pro-family groups like Family Research Council (FRC), Family Watch International (FWI), Center for Family and Human Rights, (C-Fam), Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) and more will participate to offer their considerable expertise to achieve strategic objectives and collaborate with African groups to enhance its vital work in Africa.
The timing of the ACPF Conference is also strategic. Donald Trump’s return to the White House has generated unprecedented momentum for the global pro-life and pro-family movement. The dramatic change in political ideology in the US and its powerful influence at the UN has presented the global pro-family movement unique opportunities for victory.
South Africa is the only African nation to aggressively push sexual rights ideology on its citizens – guided by UN agencies and the European Union (EU). The ANC’s anti-life and anti-family ideology is unique on the African Continent. It is the only government in Africa to attempt to redefine man, woman marriage – simply to appease sexual rights radicals.
Prior to the 2024 General Elections, the ANC regime amended legislation to decriminalise the entire sex-industry – despite warnings from the SA Law Reform Commission (SALRC) it was the worst possible policy for SA. The Bill ultimately failed because state law advisors warned the then ANC majority regime the policy would not survive constitutional scrutiny.
Significantly, however, the ANC in collaboration with UN agencies and leftist governments, is committed to legalizing the entire sex-industry that include pimps and brothel keepers. The foreign-funded “Sex Workers Education & Advocacy Taskforce” (SWEAT) filed a High Court application to repeal the laws that criminalise the sale and purchase of sex in SA.
This means, what the ANC failed in Parliament, SWEAT is attempting to achieve by judicial decree – circumventing the democratic parliamentary process (that mandates public participation). The ANC Minister of Justice is not expected to oppose SWEAT’s High Court application because legalized prostitution fits with its destructive sexual rights agenda.
The most egregious policy the ANC imposed on citizens is “Comprehensive Sexuality Education” (CSE). This foreign devised program drives a wedge between parents and their children to indoctrinate them with radical abortion and LGBTQ propaganda in the classroom. CSE’s introduction in education correlates with the teen pregnancy crisis in SA.
My presentation at the ACPF Conference will explore the links between the breakdown of the family and poverty. Research overwhelmingly indicate that family breakdown and fatherless homes are the greatest contributor to social dysfunction and poverty. Most social ills can also be traced to the breakdown of the family and the scourge of fatherless homes.
In addition to the pro-family momentum generated by the Trump administration, the ANC losing its majority in Parliament presents Family Policy Institute (FPI) and its allies the best opportunity to oppose and defeat the ANC’s woke anti-family ideology in South Africa.
The ANC cannot ram its policies through Parliament with just 40 percent of the vote. It needs the DA in the GNU to pass legislation. The VAT hike debacle clearly demonstrates the ANC is not the majority party any longer even though it absurdly (mis)governs like it is.
FPI has formulated a multi-faceted approach to combat and defeat the ANC’s anti-family agenda. The strategic alliances we forge at the ACPF gathering, the lobbying of Members of Parliament in the GNU, and our targeted social-media campaigns aimed at mobilizing citizens to oppose anti-faith and anti-family legislation sets us on a course for victory.
Please pray for the success of the ACPF Conference. We need God’s guidance and wisdom to strengthen the global pro-family network to push back against the destructive forces that devalue human life, diminish faith and family and ultimately destablise society.
