In March 2012, South African conservationist Lawrence Anthony passed away suddenly. Known as “the elephant whisperer”, Lawrence had dedicated his life to rescuing and rehabilitating traumatised wildlife, especially elephants. He had a deep understanding of animals and believed in their ability to feel and remember. But what happened after his death left even seasoned wildlife experts stunned.

A solemn arrival
Two days after Lawrence’s passing, two separate herds of elephants arrived at his home in KwaZulu-Natal. They had not been there in over three years. Their actions stir something in us because they reveal a truth beyond logic – that love, respect, and remembrance are not just human traits.
A whisper of eternity
As believers, we know that Christ is not only the Saviour of mankind, but the Redeemer of all creation (Isa 11:6-9). One day, all of nature will be restored under His rule. Until then, even the animals testify to His glory. Some may still say there is no God – but try tell that to the elephants…
