40 years of impacting the youth
In 2024, AEE celebrates four decades of impacting young lives, inspiring faith, and preparing the next generation for a life of success and Godly purpose. The number 40 is a significant milestone that is referenced repeatedly in the Word of God. From the story of Noah and the ark, the children of Israel in the wilderness, and Jesus being tempted in the desert, the number 40 is a common thread.

History of AEE
AEE’s history dates back to 1983, when the founders of Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.), Dr Donald and Esther Howard, travelled to South Africa and challenged churches to start Christian schools to provide a biblically based education for young people. Several schools were started, the first being King’s School Robin Hills in Johannesburg. Ashton and Grace Sparrow were appointed to lead the ministry in South Africa during the early years and travelled across the country sharing the message of global biblical educational reform and continued encouraging church communities to start Christian schools. In 1987, due to health challenges, Ashton was unable to continue leading the ministry. In 1988, the A.C.E. baton was passed to Trevor and Val Yoko. Trevor continued encouraging churches to educate children. Under his guidance, A.C.E. saw such exponential growth that, in 2001, it was necessary to relocate the Durban-based head office to larger premises. On the 19th of January 2002, Pastor Trevor graduated to glory, and the leadership baton was passed to Trevor’s son and daughter-in-law, Graham and Pam Yoko. In 2011, A.C.E. was restructured as AEE and continues to distribute the A.C.E. system of education together with several online and blended Christian education solutions.

AEE is actively engaged in assisting churches and communities to establish schools on the continent of Africa wherever there is a hunger for authentic Christian education. AEE has, over 40 years, navigated the challenges of an evolving educational landscape. Despite these changes, the vision and purpose of AEE remains constant and is at the foundation of all that they do. Graham Yoko shares that the AEE footprint extends across Africa and the vision to see an educated Africa where everyone can reach their full potential in Christ is being realised daily. Graduates of the A.C.E. system of education have excelled academically and gone on to make their mark in their communities and society at large. With the solid foundation of the Word of God, academic expertise and Godly character, they are equipped to be salt and light in the world.
