For people like this FEBA Malawi listener, radio and audio Bibles are the only means of receiving the gospel. Many listeners cannot read, so they rely on audio for all their information. Others live in remote areas where they have no access to churches or even other Christians. Some live under threat of persecution, and radio allows them to worship in secret.
FEBA works to reach the unreached in Mozambique, Malawi, Chad, and Mali. FEBA Niger is in the process of establishing its first station, and groundwork is being done to establish one in Sudan. The ministry is growing so quickly that they cannot stay ahead with the demand for radios and audio Bibles.
FEBA Radio SA’s Christmas Radio Project aims to raise funds for these items.
FEBA’s audio Bible device is small enough to hold in one hand and it uses solar power, so that the listener does not need to spend money on batteries. The radio also works with solar power, as well as a rechargeable battery that can be wound up by hand.
“It works so well,” says Dr Jurie Vermeulen, national director of FEBA Radio SA. “I saw one lying on the roof of a pigsty, charging in the sun, in the one village that we visited.”
One radio has the potential to reach up to 50 people. Mr Traoré, a FEBA Mali listener and former Muslim, who was miraculously healed after seeking help from Christians, writes, “I have recently come to the Lord, together with all my family, thanks to KanuYah FM Sollo (FEBA Mali’s radio station).”
