On the 15th of August 2011, I left home at 6:00 for work, which started at 7:00. The day began normally, with no sign that anything was wrong. We prayed as a family, and I did my private prayers too (as usual). I always ask God to protect my family. Then I left the house.
Arrival in town
When I reached town – my usual getting-off point – I got off and crossed the street to the workshop on the other side of the road. Suddenly, I was hit by a lady driving a car (a Toyota RunX). I didn’t see it happen – I had blacked out and lost consciousness for a while. When I came to, I was sitting in the middle of the street, still clutching my work bag in my right hand. I immediately began to pray. A crowd had gathered, and they insisted that the driver take me to hospital. She agreed and drove me there.
On the way to hospital
As she drove, I didn’t feel a single bit of pain anywhere in my body. I just kept praying. I had an important assignment to complete at work that morning, and a meeting with my pastor and another church member over lunch. So, I asked the driver to take me to the workshop instead of the hospital. She did – and I arrived just in time, at 6:50.
During lunch
I still felt no pain when the pastor and the other church member arrived. When I told them what had happened, they thanked God for being our refuge and fortress (Psa 91:2). They advised me to see a doctor or go to the clinic. I went to the private clinic at the centre (near my workplace), and the nursing sister took me for an x-ray – but nothing was found.
Afterwards
I continued for two weeks without feeling any pain at all. I even went to the provincial hospital for a second opinion, but again, they found nothing. Today, 14 years later, I still have no pain or any long-lasting problems. Thank God for His Word, in which He taught us to pray without ceasing (1 Thes 5:17). He is still at work to this day and beyond. He is our protector, provider, and healer.
