South Africa faces a heartbreaking crisis, with an estimated 3500 babies abandoned each year in unsafe places like rubbish dumps, rivers, and toilets.
BabySavers South Africa and Door of Hope are fighting to save these vulnerable children by offering safe baby saver boxes – but the Department of Social Development has declared these lifesaving services illegal, claiming they encourage abandonment.
A High Court case is now underway to overturn this directive and protect safe haven organisations from prosecution. The Christian legal clinic, The Deborahs 972, has joined as amicus curiae, urging the court to uphold the value of every child’s life.

Baby boxes are VITAL to save the lives of unwanted babies in the most humane, loving way. We need many MORE, certainly not fewer baby boxes.
As a Temporary Safe Care Parent, I know first hand just how crucial the Baby Savers are, and they must not be outlawed!!!
