The ANC regime’s deepening ties with Russia has dominated headlines recently especially the allegations made by US Ambassador, Reuben Brigety that the South African government supplied Russia with arms and ammunition when a Russian cargo vessel mysteriously docked at the Simons Town Naval Base at midnight in Dec 2022 and allegedly offloaded and loaded goods.
What makes this alarming allegation worse is that Defence Minister, Thandi Modise failed to adequately explain what was offloaded or loaded that fateful night. If SA did indeed trade arms and ammunition with Russia to benefit its war with Ukraine, the ANC regime and the country potentially face economic sanctions and isolation from some of its largest trade partners.
The ANC is in shambles. It is demonstrably unfit to govern. The ruling party is a shadow of its former self. President Cyril Ramaphosa who promised the nation a “New Dawn” following the disastrous presidency of his predecessor, Jacob Zuma is now widely regarded as a failure.
South Africa’s economy – already reeling from the staggering “State Capture” theft, fraud and money-laundering crimes and Covid-19 fiasco which triggered a fresh round of looting by ANC cadres – is facing more hardship if the US Congress votes to eject SA from the “African Growth & Opportunity Act” (AGOA) which provides vital tariff breaks and access to lucrative trade markets.
The ANC government has almost single-handedly destroyed South Africa’s once flourishing economy. It systematically dismantled and bankrupted critical state-owned-enterprises (SOE’s) like Eskom, Transnet’s rail network, South African Airways, Denel and the SABC among others.
A 2022 SOE report says, “SOE’s play a critical role in South Africa’s economy as they are responsible for providing the infrastructure and services on which the economy depends. This includes the generation of electricity, water provision, freight logistics, transport and telecommunications.”
The report continues, “Instead of being at the forefront of economic and social transformation, most SOE’s have been associated with State Capture, financial mismanagement and major governance failures due to weak accountability and inefficiency.” Put more bluntly, every sector of society has failed because the ANC is incapable of governing a modern democracy like SA.
Consider the various municipalities in South Africa. Most have failed and are bankrupt. South Africa’s financial hub, The City of Johannesburg went through five mayors in just 18 months. The ANC and its stepchild, the EFF have created chaos in metros they don’t control but have sway.
Tragically, South Africa, a country with enormous potential is being destroyed economically and socially by a criminal network masquerading as a governing party. When will civil-society, the business community and the Christian Church wake up and call the ANC out for what it is?
The ANC has abandoned all pretense of honest and efficient governance – in the best interest of the people of South Africa. Its blatant criminality is mind-boggling. Most of the thieves and fraudsters in the ruling party are protected by state apparatus. It currently exists and clings to power for the express purpose of enriching its corrupt and grossly incompetent cadres.
The ANC regime’s disastrous foreign policy may be what topples it. Hopefully, they will face criminal sanction. Everything they touch fails. But what ultimately will destroy the ANC is its arrogance. It believes it is entitled to govern – despite its numerous crimes against the nation.
The ruling party has systematically dismantled South Africa’s economy and disrupted social cohesion through sheer arrogance that blinds it to its mounting failures. The ANC’s social policy has taken a sledgehammer to foundational institutions like faith, family and religious freedoms.
The Scriptures prophesy the fate of the proud and the arrogant, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty (arrogant) spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18. The ANC declared “It will rule until Jesus returns.” However, the seeds of their destruction have germinated and is now fully grown.
