South African politics appears to be shaped more by court rulings than the ballot box. The recent Constitutional Court ruling instructing Parliament to proceed with impeachment hearings into the Phala Phala theft scandal has shaken the political establishment.

President Cyril Ramaphosa, like his predecessor Jacob Zuma, is attempting to avoid accountability by threatening to interdict the impeachment process. However, the 31-member impeachment committee is not deterred and is forging ahead with its agenda.

The theft of $580,000 in cash stuffed in a couch at Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala game farm is not only bizarre but suspicious. Now the impeached former Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane has requested the FBI in the US investigate the origins of the stolen dollars.

Neither Ramaphosa or his security reported the Feb 2020 Phala Phala theft to the police. It was exposed by former State Security Agency boss, Arthur Fraser in June 2022. He laid criminal charges against Ramaphosa for kidnapping, money laundering and other crimes.

And just when you thought this story couldn’t get any more bizarre, former president, Jacob Zuma who’s delay tactics to avoid facing hundreds of charges of corruption, fraud, and money laundering in court is legendary – accused Ramaphosa of “delaying accountability.”

The courts do appear to be forcing change in SA. The Pietermaritzburg High Court ruled Zuma’s trial must start on 1 Feb 2027. The fact that this trial was delayed for more than 20 years by Zuma’s “Stalingrad tactics” is a serious indictment of the criminal justice system.

The courts also convicted Julius Malema of hate speech and firing a weapon in public. He was sentenced to five years in prison for the latter which is under appeal. Several other cases are being finalized against Malema that may see him incarcerated for many years.

The Constitutional Court ruling that struck down key provisions of the National Health Insurance (NHI) Act gutted the ANC’s plans to nationalise healthcare. Additional NHI challenges will be heard in the ConCourt soon that will undermine the ANC’s agenda.

“Rescue SA Civil Rights Alliance” constitutional challenge of race-based laws will potentially change the way Black Economic Empowerment is implemented. The ANC currently unlawfully uses race classification to discriminate against millions of citizens.

A growing list of former and current ANC officials are appearing in courts across the country to face charges of corruption, fraud, theft, money-laundering and racketeering. The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) is also investigating numerous cases of state corruption.

The Madlanga Commission inquiry into police corruption has exposed the shocking depths of criminality in the police service, police corruption and political interference. The ANC facilitated the capture and control of SAPS by organized crime bosses for its own ends.

A growing number of civil rights groups are challenging the ANC led government in courts of law for crimes against the people of South Africa. The ANC perverted justice for its own evil agenda. Please pray that true justice will prevail for the sake of South Africa’s people.
