AVODAH invites young believers to a bridging year that unites faith, calling, and service. The Hebrew word avodah carries the combined meaning of work, worship, and serving. First appearing in Genesis 2:15, it reveals God’s original design: our work and worship were never meant to be separated, but woven together into a seamless way of life. An initiative of World Mission Centre, developed in partnership with Jalia Technologies, AVODAH offers far more than a traditional gap year. It is an equipping year focused on the transformation of body, soul, and spirit, helping young adults grow in identity, discipline, and calling.
Equipped for every area of life
At AVODAH, students are equipped to honour God in every area of life. The year-long formation programme combines discipleship, mentorship, and practical workplace training. Participants deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, develop a heart for the nations, and learn to lead and make disciples according to Biblical principles – whether God calls them into business or full-time ministry.
Growing in spiritual maturity
Students grow in character, skill, and spiritual maturity by establishing healthy daily rhythms, including nourishing meals, regular exercise, mentoring relationships, and hands-on workplace discipleship. Practical experience is offered in fields such as graphic design, project management, business analysis, software development, marketing, social media marketing, web design, and accounting.
Real-world missionary work
Short-term outreach trips to Ethiopia, Mozambique, and Lesotho provide frontline experience in cross-cultural ministry, humility, teamwork, and service. Through intentional community and real-world projects, participants learn that faith is not confined to the church.
