Something powerful is happening in Angola! September saw two back-to-back Gospel campaigns in Malanje and Kuito, places that have never had evangelistic campaigns like this before. Angola was closed to the Gospel for decades, but now there is such an intense hunger for God here, you can feel it. That hunger was gloriously met by the Bread of Life.
Malanje: 10-13 September
70% of the churches identified in Malanje participated in organising the campaign. The vice governor, along with the various denominational leaders, officially declared the Church of Malanje unified for the first time in history, as they had never imagined being able to work with churches outside of their denominations until we started the campaign preparations in May. This is itself a huge testimony to the power of the Gospel!
A lifetime of pain instantly healed
Marcelina was only eight years old when she fell off a wall, permanently injuring her legs. From then on, she lived with constant, tormenting pain. She told us she had done everything she could to get better, even travelling to Congo several times for treatment, but it was of no use. The doctors could not help her, and she had to take painkillers every night just to be able to sleep. She came to testify that Jesus had healed her completely. For the first time since she was a little girl, the pain that tortured her was gone! Not only can she walk without pain, she is able to sleep without any painkillers. She joyfully gave Jesus all the glory on stage.
Deaf ear opened
Gabriel could not hear anything with his right ear for almost a year. On stage after the prayer for the sick, he covered his left ear, and Daniel tested his hearing. He gave Gabriel a microphone and told him to repeat what he said as he walked further and further away on the noisy stage. Gabriel was healed.
Shout ‘Hallelujah!’
Teresa felt pain in her head, which also affected her teeth. She couldn’t be in loud places for over a year, but at the campaign, the pain completely left. She couldn’t speak loudly or shout, but now she can speak and shout without any pain. She shouted the loudest “Hallelujah!” several times and declared that she was better as she broke down in tears.
Kuito, 17-20 September
These campaigns in Angola were in collaboration with Evangelist Randy Roberts, one of the first people to graduate from the CfaN Evangelism Bootcamp six years ago. He shares, “My favourite part of the night was when the decision cards were being filled out and it was still raining, so there was no worship band, and all these beautiful people were worshipping God a cappella.
I stood there in the rain and wept that God would allow me to be a part of something so glorious.”
Barthalemu was born with his back slightly bent
While Randy was praying for the sick, Barthalemu felt the pain leave his back, but he didn’t realise that his body had already straightened. When he went home and was putting on his trousers, he looked in the mirror and noticed that his body was straight. That’s when he realised what had happened. He came back the next night to share his miracle, accompanied by his pastor, who confirmed his testimony. The pastor explained that he used to tease Barthalemu about his “swagger” walk. During his testimony, Barthalemu walked across the stage standing straight. And then he started running!
The Fire Conference
About 4000 pastors and church leaders attended the Fire Conference. The Fire Conference is a vital part of building and encouraging the local Body of Christ during a campaign, equipping them to disciple thousands of new believers.
