Sexual exploitation, violence, and abuse of women are at crisis levels in South Africa. Women’s groups say, South Africa is one of the most dangerous countries for women to live. This is unacceptable! As men we must lead in promoting the safety and dignity of women. We must also work together to actively elevate the status of women in society. We must also end the social degradation of women in South Africa by exposing and combating the harms of pornography and the negative stereotypes promoted by the sex industry and the media. Rape, exploitation, violence and abuse is happening on our watch. We must stop it!
Costa Mitchell leading men in the Vow at Parliament
Please make a special effort to take the Vow in this video. Read it carefully and commit to uphold its noble objectives. Please also share the Vow with all the men in your network. We aim to spread this video countrywide and encourage millions of men in South Africa to take the Vow and uphold its objectives. We also urge men to hold other men within their influence to be active protectors of women. Men must make a commitment to eradicate the sexual exploitation, abuse, and violence against women and hold other men accountable to these objectives. As men we are responsible for what happens to women in South Africa. It is time to stand up and be counted!
