The Team at Kingfisher FM are thrilled to announce that the station has acquired a Special Event License. This license was issued by ICASA on Tuesday 07 April 2020 and is valid for 45 days. Within hours of the license being issued, the station was on air via its 107.5 FM frequency.  The Special Event License focuses on the Christian celebration of Easter and the COVID – 19 epidemic.

Kingfisher FM has 24 years of HOPE giving in the past and it’s the belief that there are 24 years and more ahead.

A shared Christian belief system is at the heart of all Kingfisher FM stands for.  The intention is to bring about purposeful, personal transformation that impacts our community in a way that does more than entertain – bringing certainty in the chaos of an uncertain world.

No matter who the listener is or where they come from – being English, Xhosa, Afrikaans or other, the shared belief in Christ enables us to be peaceable and productive together and places us on one foundation of HOPE.

Listeners can expect many of their favourite presenters, all of whom are eager to connect with their community.  Kingfisher has experienced a flood of well wishes from eager listeners in Nelson Mandela Bay and surrounds. All are relieved to be able to tune their radios to their much loved station.

“Online streaming has been the order of the day, but reaching people via our on air platform and streaming so that all may hear is our absolute privilege!” reported Station Manager Michele Lourens. “ I am proud of our team, they are loyal and have rallied to make our current on air situation authentic and relevant.  This is due to personal passion for the station, God and seeing his Word come to life in the lives of our listeners.”

Head of the Kingfisher Board Wouter van der Westhuizen stated that the station had walked many hard roads and experienced many glorious moments. It is therefore apt that this license comes at a time when the community is experiencing the trials of Covid – 19 and the glory of Easter.

The station is headed towards it’s new license application, this current Special Events License forms a vital bridge between being off air and being granted the new license.

For close to quarter of a century Kingfisher FM has walked the road of transformation in Nelson Mandela Bay & surrounds.

It is the aim and vision of the station to broadcast the core message of Gods HOPE, LOVE & TRANSFORMATION to our community and beyond today and for years to come.
