Most of the world will observe “Fathers’ Day” on Sunday 15 June. Families traditionally honour the God-given and indispensable roles of men as fathers. The vital role of a man as the head of his family, a husband to his wife and a father to his children has been increasingly devalued and diminished by a godless culture that worships at the altar of self.

In the 1960’s, the feminist movement was birthed with the slogan, “a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.” It unleashed an all-out war on the man’s role as the head of the family, biblical fatherhood and motherhood – and women marrying and bearing children.

The abortion holocaust was the bitter fruit of feminism’s assault on motherhood. The “gay rights” movement joined the attack on the traditional family followed by skyrocketing out-of-wedlock births, no fault divorce, fatherless homes and the ever-expanding welfare state.

The catastrophic consequences of the almost 7-decade assault on the natural family is now tragically apparent by plummeting fertility rates. I serve on the Advisory Board of Stop Demographic Winter” – a global movement dedicated to warning nations about the world’s most severe existential threat confronting almost every country – population decline.

The left’s attack on marriage and motherhood has made marriage a burden. Men and women have opted to have less children or no children. European nations and countries like Japan have mostly aged populations and not enough children. The birth rates in many countries are well below replacement level indicating a looming social and economic crisis.

The role of the father in the home cannot be overestimated. Mountains of research reveal that marriage between a man and a woman remain the cornerstone institution of nations – the glue that holds society together. The family, built on the foundation of biblical marriage is the bedrock of society. Every society on earth is only as strong as the family.

Men, as faithful providers and protectors of their wives and children, therefore, determine not only the health, stability and prosperity of the family but the strength, stability and prosperity of the nation. Consequently, when men abdicate their responsibilities and the family disintegrates, the entire social order unravels, leading to social instability and chaos.

Kimberly Ells writes, “Research shows the absence of fathers is a prime cause of poverty & crime and more prevalent in neighbourhoods where most homes do not include fathers. Studies also show that women who are married to the men they live with experience lower rates of violence than women who live with men they are not married to.”

But the decades old assault on biblical manhood and by implication, fatherhood has taken its toll. Men as devoted husbands, fathers and leaders in society have been maligned and undermined by the sexual rights movement – led by feminist and abortion rights groups, LGBTQ radicals, Hollywood, the mainstream media, UN agencies and leftist governments.

Major corporates have endorsed “pride month” that celebrate and promote “alternative lifestyles” over the natural family. The LGBTQ movement’s stated goals is to redefine the God-given and defined institution of man, woman marriage to validate counterfeit unions.

The ANC’s contribution to the dismantling of the natural family are its abortion laws, the sexualisation of children, and the gender-neutral single “Marriage Bill” that redefines marriage to include same-sex and transgender unions. The Bill abolishes the terms husband and wife to appease LGBTQ radicals who argue gender is a social construct.

As a result, fatherhood and motherhood are diminished to legitimise sexual perversion. The ANC’s war on marriage, the family, parental rights and the sexualisation of children are its contributions to the global sexual rights movements goal to dismantle the natural family.

Woolworths appear to be the only corporate championing the “gay pride” cause in SA. Most major corporations have opted to adopt a neutral stance as a result of the Trump administrations push back against the suffocating indoctrination of “pride month.”

Woolworths exploits its retail space to boldly proclaim “pride month” sexual rights propaganda to shoppers – including innocent children. Family Policy Institute launched boycott’s against the retailer in 2023/24. But Woollies appear to be digging in its heels.

If you value the natural family and recognise the harms of corporate LGBTQ social activism, I urge you to boycott Woolworths for the month of June. The news media  reported on my FB post calling for the boycott.  It labelled me a “TV preacher.”

The attacks on men are relentless. Masculinity is branded “toxic” because it terrifies the weak and emasculated. The UN’s hordes of radical feminists are working to “dismantle the patriarchy” – driven by an irrational contempt for the men who are unafraid to stand out.

Strong godly men hold the key to the nation’s health, stability and prosperity. When men faithfully fulfil their God-given roles as husbands and fathers, they affirm and strengthen the family – the bedrock of society.  When the family thrives – society thrives and prospers.

I salute and encourage the men in our society who take seriously their God-given roles as husbands, fathers and leaders in their homes and society. Roles defined by sacrifice and service to a cause greater than self. Godly men still hold the key. Happy Fathers’ Day!
