“After attending BDKA, I like to read the Bible every day, and learn to obey God,” a student from Tangerang, Indonesia, tells FEBA.
BDKA, an abbreviation of the Bahasa Indonesia title, which translates to “Adventure in the Kingdom of God”, is a program that uses video material to teach children about God and the Bible. It was developed by FEBA Indonesia in response to the increase in digital media addiction among Indonesian children. The team creates content suitable for preschoolers and older children in schools, churches, and orphanages.
FEBA Indonesia also provides teachers with a method to help children focus, so that they can enjoy quiet time with God before each lesson. According to a teacher in Makassar, the children “become enthusiastic to meditate on God’s Word with the new method.”
The Adventure in the Kingdom of God program is gaining popularity. In 2022, FEBA Indonesia shared 40 videos with children in fewer than 10 schools. In 2023, the team had 480 videos being shared with children across 28 locations in Indonesia. This past Christmas, they brought the program to 1000 children in South Sulawesi, where the material will soon be incorporated into the regular school curriculum! FEBA Indonesia also equips children to help other children read the Bible every day.
The program gives children the opportunity to hear the gospel for the first time, or to build on their existing knowledge, like this student in South Sulawesi, who says: “I can get to know the Lord Jesus more deeply, and I want to obey and listen to what the Lord Jesus has to say through reading the Bible and praying every day.”
