“For a long time, I dreamed about getting the Bible. I am very happy that my dream came true today,” said Zee*, a 20-year-old student in Kazakhstan. She learned about young Kazakh believers, Christian youth fellowship, and the Bible through FEBA Kazakhstan’s TikTok platform. She started communicating with their youth team and eventually attended a church service, where she accepted Christ and received her very first Bible.

FEBA Kazakhstan’s social media team produces content on various platforms, for all ages. TikTok and Instagram are the most popular among younger viewers, while older viewers prefer Facebook, and YouTube receives attention from all ages. FEBA Kazakhstan posts TikTok videos about the Christian faith, Jesus, and what Kazakh churches are like. “Our team uses some Christian trends,” says Ami*, one of the team members, “or just tries to adapt popular TikTok trends to Christian themes.” Between August 2022 and August 2023, their TikTok channel received approximately 1.9 million views.

In that same period, FEBA Kazakhstan’s Instagram got about 182 000 views.

Various people, some Muslim, contact the team through Instagram with questions or opinions about Christianity. The team invites these people to their church and sends them an online Kazakh Bible. Facebook and YouTube are for testimony videos, each about 10 minutes long. Older viewers mostly watch these. “[They] are more reserved, and kind of aggressive,” says Ami. “However, there is a small group of people who are really interested and inspired by this content.”

One listener, Jan*, contacted the team through the Path of True Life Facebook channel. When he was a student, he heard about Jesus from a foreign professor. When the professor offered him a Kazakh Bible, however, he refused. “The life of [Jesus] is very interesting. There are many people who can be inspired … I would like to have a printed version of the Bible in Kazakh. Earlier, when I had the opportunity, I missed it. Now I am very sad about it.”

FEBA Kazakhstan’s team is currently working with church leaders in Jan’s city to give Jan a Kazakh Bible.
