“He limped into our discipleship group with a soccer injury. We prayed for him – and he walked out completely healed. When he discovered Who had healed him, he gave his life to Jesus. Today, he attends our groups and weekly youth service faithfully – and he brought five of his friends with him.”
– Lito Shone, Strong Schools facilitator

That story is not an exception. It is what happens when you walk faithfully into the broken places, build trust over time, and create space for God to move. Learners in disadvantaged communities face significantly reduced access to quality education, learning support, resources, infrastructure, study materials, and essential life skills. These challenges do not exist in isolation. They are complex, interconnected, and deeply human. No single school, organisation, or solution can address them alone. But God’s people, working together with purpose, can change that.

Who we are
Strong Schools Community Collaborative (SSCC) is a for-purpose company (NPC). We empower schools in under-resourced communities holistically, so they can become more effective strong schools and learners can grow into whole, independent, productive citizens. We work alongside schools in our network to strengthen and deepen their roots – like strong trees that bear good and abundant fruit.

How we journey with schools
We take a holistic approach – mind, body, soul, and spirit. We do not arrive as outsiders with quick fixes. Over many years, we have built deep relationships of trust with school leadership, educators, learners, parents, and the broader community. Because we are present on the ground, schools invite us into their real challenges – not only what is visible on the surface, but what lies beneath. Through years of listening and walking the journey together, we have learnt one key truth: real change happens through collaboration.

A trusted doorway for partnership
Strong Schools has become a trusted doorway – a connector and thinking partner – bringing schools, communities, and partners together around shared purpose. We collaborate with like-minded individuals and organisations who bring their expertise to equip school leadership teams to manage their own strategic school improvement programmes, so change is owned and sustained.

Our redemptive purpose
We exist to carry good news and hope into weary school communities, bringing healing to those who mourn and strength to those weighed down by despair, so that they may stand as oaks of righteousness, planted by God and living testimonies of His restoring work. (Foundational verses: Psa 1:3 and Isa 61:1-4.)

Godly life skills that open doors
Through teaching Godly life skills for learners, teachers, and parents, we build relationships and open doors to share God’s love and the Gospel. Our facilitators are trained to share the Gospel in a practical way. After school, learners are invited to our small life groups, where they are given the opportunity to give their lives to Jesus, and then invited to local youth groups and churches.

Strengthening the whole school
We are stronger together. Sustainable impact in education is only possible when we combine wisdom, resources, and responsibility – one learner, one teacher, one school, one community at a time. This belief shapes our strategy: we partner with school leadership and stakeholders to form school support and well-being hubs; facilitate practical solutions through our five-step change journey; collaborate with trusted organisations to multiply impact, and support sustainable interventions in schools.

Life skills: Identity, purpose, and practical tools
Our life skills programme guides youth in discovering their identity in Christ and their purpose. It builds self-awareness and equips them with practical tools for life and learning – decision-making, communication, self-control, healthy choices, and study skills. We track progress through attendance, feedback, and pre- and post-programme surveys.

Moms and Dads: Restoring families, strengthening schools
Our moms with purpose programme equips mothers through workshops and practical skills training rooted in faith-based values, dignity, and purpose. It supports holistic growth and helps mothers strengthen parenting, resilience, school involvement, and economic readiness. Our legacy dad workshops equip fathers with practical parenting skills, emotional intelligence, and supportive networks, so children experience stronger support at home and at school.

Discipleship beyond school
Our Real Deal discipleship groups empower young people who are exposed to violence, abuse, addiction, and gangsterism. Learners discover God’s heart for them, their identity in Christ, and that He has a plan and purpose for their lives. Facilitators are from local churches, and learners are invited into youth activities where they can keep growing. Lito Shone’s testimony is one of many. God is showing up regularly – restoring hope and writing redemption stories in the lives of young people who had almost stopped believing they had a future.

What partnership makes possible
Partnership funding becomes practical change in a school – counselling support for learners and educators, change management sessions, functioning libraries, training for Xhosa-speaking facilitators, and targeted projects that remove barriers to learning. We have seen what is possible when partners come alongside us – a borehole and counselling room for a school, a drive that moved a school from 200 learners with calculators to every learner having their own, and the resourcing of data projectors and whiteboards in multiple schools.

Scaling to other communities
We have tested and refined the model God has entrusted to us, and we believe the time has come to expand into new communities. We cannot do this alone. With the right partners, sponsors, and committed community leaders, we can strengthen more schools and reach more learners. We invite you to stand with us. Your partnership will help establish strong roots in schools, so that more communities can flourish and more young lives can bear lasting fruit.
