During the devastating fires that raged in the Garden Route earlier this year during October, residents of George prayed for a miracle and numerous requests for prayer went viral on social media. Many people testified how the Lord performed a miracle and saved George and surrounding areas from the devastation of the fire.
The ACDP’s Johan du Toit filed a motion to set up a banner to thank the Lord for the miracle and that no one in George lost their lives because of the runaway fires.
Gert Niehaus of the ACDP posted the photo of the banner on his Facebook page with the following words: “The motion of the ACDP which was accepted has now been implemented. Thank you for everyone’s support and that we can honour God Almighty for what He has done for us. [That day] at 4 o’clock everyone prayed together and God turned the wind and it started to rain. If it wasn’t for that, George would have suffered severe damage in the fire … ”

Heila Kuhn also wrote on Facebook: “Thank you to the ACDP George for setting up this banner. We experienced the miracle ourselves where the people of George and across the country called out to the Lord. There were distressing moments of devastating flames and winds threatening around George. And before our eyes we experienced the wonder of the wind turning and big fat drops of rain falling from heaven the moment people started praying and crying out to the Lord. ”
