Great Awakening Or Great Decline For SA – The Christian Church Must Decide!

In just over five weeks, South Africans will head to the polls to make their cross next to the political party of their choice. Most analysts agree, there has never been more at stake for the nation’s 55 million citizens.

Revelations of staggering corruption and maladministration still dominate the headlines. The economically destructive rolling blackouts appear to be a persistent warning of the dire consequences of unchecked corruption by senior officials in the ruling party and their cohorts.

The release of Pieter-Louis Myburgh’s book, “Gangster State – Unravelling Ace Magashule’s Web of Capture” has once again placed the spotlight on the ANC’s facilitation of massive government corruption and the unrestrained looting of state resources.

Myburgh’s explosive book follows the damning revelations of ANC facilitated State Capture contained in Jacques Pauw’s book, “The President’s Keepers.” Most of Pauw’s mind-boggling revelations were given credence during the testimony of several witnesses at the State Capture Inquiry.

“Gangster State”describes Magashule – the ANC’s secretary general and a former Free State premier – “as the head of a well-organised state capture network, doling out state contracts worth billions of rand to the politically connected and skimming off kickbacks in return.”

The incredible testimony at the State Capture and PIC Inquiries reveal a litany of government aided theft, fraud and looting of taxpayer funds. Revelations have now emerged of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s son, Andile Ramaphosa’s questionable business dealings.

A once proud liberation movement, the ANC won political power in 1994 after decades of struggle and transformed itself into a political powerhouse. Tragically however, the ruling party appears to have deteriorated to an organised crime network for the express purpose of enriching its own.

The evidence is overwhelming. The ANC has chosen self-enrichment over competent governance. After 25 years of ANC misrule, the nation groans under the dead weight of state facilitated corruption, fraud, money laundering, racketeering, and gross maladministration that seriously undermined critical democratic institutions and crippled vital State Owned Enterprises.

The reality is, millions of citizens stood idly by and watched the ANC run the country into the ground. Millions more are complicit in this catastrophe as they mindlessly justify, endorse and empower the wilful political, economic and social ruin of their homeland.

The Christian Church also appears to be relegated to mere spectator status as this tragedy unfolds. Politicians don’t seem to care what the Church think or says. If you doubt this, do some research on the formulation of public policy over the past few years that was detrimental to Biblical values but benefitted radical sexual rights groups.

That’s why I am encouraged by the bold initiative of Dr Arno Van Niekerk and Dr Arthur Frost, entitled the “Great Awakening.” Following the success of the “Christian Consensus,” a series of significant events are planned in the lead up to the General Elections on 8 May that will hopefully mobilise Christian citizens to usher in a righteous government.

Thankfully, there are several political parties standing on Biblical values and principles in this General Elections. The simple plan is to vote Godly men and women into power to transform South Africa.

Please support this worthy initiative. Considering what’s at stake, we cannot afford to do nothing. The Christian Church is a major demographic in South Africa. We must use this strength for Godly change.
