Prophet John Thomas says he used to be addicted to drugs, but then God spoke to him out of nowhere, saying, “The world’s going to end; you’d better figure out whose side you’re on.” That rocked Thomas’ world to the point where he started going to church, and one day he witnessed John Paul Jackson prophesying over many people.
“I was astounded,” Thomas says. “So [Jackson] said he was doing this course called the ‘art of hearing God.’ I went to this course, and he’s talking about dreams and visions. And I started realizing I had dreams. But I didn’t really remember any dreams up to that point. But after that point, I started remembering dreams, started writing journals full of dreams.”
Thomas started reading books and listening to tapes on interpreting dreams, and over time began to realize that God speaks in mysterious and unconventional ways, he says on the Adventures in the Spirit podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network. He says God speaks through nature as well as through numbers. For example, the number 3 could represent the Trinity.
Thomas says he had a friend who didn’t know what God wanted him to do in a particular season, but he felt God clearly speak to him while on a walk with his wife.
“On their way home from the walk, they decided to stop and get their mail out of their mailbox,” Thomas says. ” … They open up the door to the mailbox, and when they open up the door, the door falls off their mailbox, and they’ve never had a problem with it before. And his wife says, ‘Oh, I think we’re going to need to get a new mailbox,’ and the Lord speaks to him: ‘Yes, it’s time to move. You need a new mailbox.'”
