Since 2012, Christian communities throughout Nigeria’s Benue State have suffered at the hands of Fulani militants. These extremists storm into Christian villages, killing residents and destroying homes and farmland. Villagers who manage to survive are often left with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
Among the most vulnerable victims of this violence are children whose parents were killed in the attacks. As a result, for several years, ICC has joined hands with a local orphanage to care for children who have been affected by this violence.
With the onset of COVID-19 last year, the pandemic depleted the orphanage of many of its supplies. Relying solely on God’s provision and the generosity of others, the orphanage called out for help.
We stepped in to provide the home with essentials for the children, including clothing, bedding, and personal hygiene products. We also supplied basic food supplies, such as rice, beans, yams, and more. During these uncertain times, these items will relieve some of the immediate financial strain on the orphanage so that the staff does not have to worry how they will provide for the children’s next meal.
The executive director of the orphanage expressed, “We have this great palliative support all the way from International Christian Concern, from the United States of America, our biggest supporter, our biggest partner, our biggest everything. They’ve just been there all the way for us.”
The director continued, “Your generosity has been instrumental in making a huge progressive difference in [our] orphanage home. For this, we humbly say thank you. You make a difference!”
