Evangelist Daniel Kolenda posted an interesting and edifying podcast recently following Donald Trump’s second inauguration as president of the United States.

Emphasising that he is not a political commentator, the leader of Christ for all Nations said his interest in speaking about “what is probably one of the wildest political comebacks in history” was based on what it has to say about prophetic ministry.

He points out that after Trump failed to win the 2020 election, many prophetic voices who had predicted that he would serve two terms were declared to be false prophets.

Kolenda asked viewers of his Daniel KolendaOff the Record podcast, whether now, after, against all odds, Trump is serving a second term, there will be any apology from those who criticised and demeaned the prophetic.

Noting that Trump’s two terms were first prophesied in 2007, years before he displayed any political ambition, he said that with hindsight, the events that have unfolded over recent years “might have something very important to teach us about prophecy”.

“The first Trump presidency was unlikely. The second one was impossible. But not only is Trump won, he’s won a decisive victory, a clean sweep,” said Kolenda.

In one of the nuggets in his message, he revealed that his predecessor, evangelist Reinhard Bonnke prophesied Trump’s election victory in 2016 when it seemed highly unlikely. Others prophesied that Trump would serve two terms in the White House. But there were some who thought the two terms would be consecutive — possibly because “their own soulish desires mixed into those prophetic words”, he said.

“So, yeah, there were people who got into the flesh. There were people who overstepped. And in fact, I think there were people who prophesied falsely. On the other hand, I think that there were some people who genuinely heard from the Lord,” said Kolenda.

Referring to biblical precedents, he used the Trump prophecies controversy as an opportunity to shed insight on the outworking of prophecy in both biblical times and today where true prophetic words are often not fulfilled in the way imagined by the prophets or interpreted by people.

Commenting on the start of Trump’s historic second term, he said: “I can only trust that god is in control, that he has a purpose and a plan, and that he’s shown it to his people, to his servants, the prophets ahead of time. What a time to be alive.”
