President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the 2025 ‘State of the Nation Address’ (SONA) on 6 February. This is his first SONA as president, elected by a governing coalition of 10 parties – as a result of the ANC’s humiliating majority loss in Parliament in the 2024 Elections.
Since Ramaphosa’s 2018 “New Dawn” promise to end corruption, his weak and spineless leadership failed to implement the Zondo Commission recommendations that resulted in an alarming spike in state corruption, economic stagnation, surging unemployment, deepening poverty, the return of loadshedding and spiraling social-welfare budgets.
The ANC’s appalling cadre-deployment policy has contributed to the decline of entire provinces, and metros like Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth. ANC run municipalities have collapsed as a result of rampant corruption and gross mismanagement. ANC cadres implicated in fraud and theft are typically rewarded with lucrative parliamentary posts.
Ramaphosa will deliver the 2025 SONA against a backdrop of rising tensions with Rwandan President, Paul Kagame over the 14 SA National Defense Force (SANDF) soldiers killed in the Democratic Republic of Congo. About 2000 SANDF soldiers remain trapped in their bases in the DRC surrounded by M23 rebels – with no clear rescue plan.
More ominous for the ANC crime network are the threats issued by US President, Donald Trump on 2 February. Referring to the “Expropriation Act” – recently signed into to law by President Ramaphosa – Trump posted, “South Africa is confiscating land, and treating certain classes of people VERY BADLY.” He called it, “A massive HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION” and said he will “cut off all future funding to SA and launch an investigation.”
Ramaphosa and the ANC could potentially face crippling sanctions. South Africa could also lose duty-free access to US markets in the ‘Africa Growth and Opportunity Act’ (AGOA). This follows Trumps freeze on all US foreign assistance programs for 90 days. The President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR) will be hardest hit.
Many analysts agree, the ANC still governs like it’s the majority party despite its obligations to the Government of National Unity (GNU). It imposes its Marxist socialist agenda on the nation by pushing socialised health-care (NHI), state control of education, (BELA), land confiscation (Expropriation Act) and extorting tax-payer funds through BEE policies.
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Parks Tau has proposed establishing a R100 billion “Transformation Fund” to support “black economic empowerment.” The money will be extorted from the private sector. Most citizens will remember the R500 billion the ANC regime allocated to fight the Covid pandemic. It triggered an ANC looting frenzy. Billions in tax-payer funds were looted. Sadly, the “Transformation Fund” will suffer the same fate.
Ramaphosa’s claims that he is committed to fighting state corruption is disproven by his failure to implement lifestyle audits of senior public officials – despite repeated promises. Lifestyle audits of ANC officials will expose the staggering levels of corruption in the public sector. ANC resistance is the primary reason Ramaphosa is dragging his feet.
Numerous reports indicate Donald Trump is furious at the ANC’s one-sided prosecution of Israel and its close allegiance to totalitarian regimes like China, Russia and Iran. The ANC’s totalitarian tendencies have become more apparent as it contemptuously ignores its contractual obligations to its GNU partners – to unilaterally advance its Marxist agenda.
Ramaphosa recently addressed the World Economic Forum (WEF) and promised to “fight climate change,” “inequality” and other leftist priorities. A globalist wannabe, Ramaphosa ticked all the globalist elite boxes at the WEF but failed to mention his governance failures at home. Ramaphosa’s failed presidency will surely undermine his globalist ambitions.
The “African Christian Professionals Forum” board (ACPF) has invited Trump nominee for Assistant Secretary of State for Africa, J Peter Pham to address the ACPF Pan African Conference on Family Values in Nairobi, Kenya in May. Family Policy Institute and the ACPF will take full advantage of the “Trump factor” to advance our pro-family agenda.
Donald Trump campaigned on an “America First” agenda – delivering on many of his campaign promises within just two weeks. Ramaphosa also promised to put SA first when he was first elected president 7 years ago. But Ramaphosa failed to deliver because what he really means is, “ANC First.” That’s why SA declines while corrupt ANC cadres’ flourish.
The GNU must hold together because the alternatives would be catastrophic. However, the other parties in the GNU must assert themselves more forcefully to stop the ANC’s Marxist agenda. Trump’s punishing actions against the ANC may provide the opportunity to do this.
