An Iranian newspaper warned on its front page recently that Iran’s new hypersonic missile can reach the Jewish state in 400 seconds. To ensure that Jerusalem got the message, the warning was written in Hebrew.
“400 seconds: General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ [IRGC’s] Aerospace Force, said that Iran has obtained technology for hypersonic missiles,” Sobh-e-Sadegh, an IRGC-affiliated newspaper wrote, as quoted by the Jerusalem Post.
Hajidazeh announced that Iran had developed the hypersonic missiles, which can fly five times faster than the speed of sound and will be able to penetrate advanced missile interception systems.
The advanced missiles can fly on a complex path, which in addition to their speed, makes them difficult to detect, track and intercept. They also fly lower to the ground than intercontinental ballistic missiles, higher than subsonic missiles, and are still capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
Hajizadeh told Iran’s Fars News Agency, “I don’t think any technology would be found for tens of years capable of countering it.”
While Israel has a robust missile defense system, it reportedly does not have anything capable of stopping a hypersonic missile. However, the Jerusalem Post reported recently that Israel has already teamed up with the United States’ Missile Defense Agency to develop a system to defend against the new threat from Iran.
But as more and more Western nations join hands to counter the growing Iranian threat, the Jerusalem Post reported yesterday that Germany is undergoing secret talks with Iran to buy oil in order to offset its dependence on Russian oil.
A chief economist from the LBBW bank, Moritz Kraemer, told the Jerusalem Post that Germany is in talks with Iran as well as Venezuela and Algeria to meet the states oil needs.
