One of the most noteworthy youth conferences is that of the KwaSizabantu Mission, which celebrated 50 years of conferences earlier this year. It is now time again for the bi-annual conference, which will take place at the mission station in Kranskop, KwaZulu-Natal from 10 – 16 December. The theme for this conference is: Jesus is the light of the world. This is an open invitation for the youth to attend; details are available on the website: www.ksb.org.za.
Christian Youth Conference plays a pivotal role in nurturing the spiritual growth of young individuals, fostering a deeper connection with God, and sparking a sincere passion for faith. These gatherings provide many benefits, including invaluable opportunities for young people to explore and strengthen their beliefs. However, with the vast array of options available, choosing the right conference to attend can often feel overwhelming.
This significant event occurs biannually at the KwaSizabantu mission station, attracting thousands of young individuals from various backgrounds. Participants often describe the atmosphere as characterised by camaraderie and a strong sense of purpose, making the experience memorable and impactful. With decades of involvement in youth outreach programs, it is evident that the KwaSizabantu Youth Conference ranks among the most successful and sustainable events in the country. Initially focused on sharing the gospel and testimonies, the conference has developed over the years into a vital platform that significantly influences the lives of young attendees, demonstrating its relevance and importance today.
KwaSizabantu organises two week-long gatherings each year during school breaks, inviting youth to its mission station. Participants are given hearty meals three times a day and can engage in various services and activities, culminating in a special event on Sunday. In addition to spiritual enrichment, these conferences include vibrant activities such as a sports day, fostering friendly competition and building camaraderie among attendees. Trained counsellors are also present to offer support, ensuring that every participant feels valued and heard.
This unique combination of faith, fun, and community support makes the KwaSizabantu Youth Conference particularly appealing to families hesitant to engage in church activities. Notably, these offerings are free of charge, creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all involved.
The logistics involved in hosting such an extensive conference are significant; however, the event is made manageable through hundreds of workers, co-workers, and volunteers who contribute their time and resources. Many of these individuals have been involved since the conference’s inception, and many travel from various provinces across South Africa and even internationally to lend their support. Their collective experience and dedication contribute to the conference’s well-organized nature.
KwaSizabantu Mission is a non-denominational Christian mission station serving individuals from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds. The mission focuses on providing spiritual guidance, educational support, and counselling. It has actively engaged with youth for over fifty years, offering hope and assistance in overcoming various challenges. Renowned Christian leaders and preachers from around the globe have been invited to collaborate with the founder, the late Rev Erlo Stegen, in preaching the gospel to young people. As a result, many participants have made significant life changes and embraced Christianity.
We live in an ever-increasing dark world with countless challenges and obstacles for young people. Young people make up a considerable portion of South African communities. Youth in the church is essential because they represent the future. The younger we start to help them through their turbulent teen years with spiritual guidance, the better. Working together to provide youngsters with skills to help themselves and to live a more fulfilling life is an excellent idea. This is why KwaSizabantu also incorporated other projects, such as valuable skills development, restoration, and sports days, into its youth outreach program.
