Amidst the revival of the anti-apartheid song, ‘Kill the farmer, kill the boer’, Pastor John Mathuhle has spoken out in a four-minute videoclip expressing his concerns over this controversial song, a song that he deems ‘instigates and encourages hatred and violence against a certain group of people in this nation.’
Just over a year ago Pastor John Mathuhle was at the centre of a divine intervention in which God prevented an outbreak of violence between opposing groups in front of a courthouse in the Eastern Free State town of Senekal where a farm murder trial was under way. Since then he has been at the forefront of reconciliation and community development initiatives in the town.
He encourages the South African nation, especially those who are believers, to stand up and let our voices be heard, because silence regarding matters that divide our nation also rips it apart. He challenges us to stand up and pray against this spirit of evil sent by the enemy to separate the people of God.
‘We need to be in to build bridges of reconciliation in this country.’
He poses a question for viewers to consider, a question that encourages them to think about the way in which they would react if this song was targeted against their race. How would they respond when they encounter a song being celebrated that instigates violence against people?
He asks us to add our voice, for the prosperity of the next generation, because we cannot continue teaching hatred to our children. He states that there is a silence majority that consists of men and women who are passionate about our country.
He asks us to rise up in this time, because God has a plan and purpose for our nation and to speak up against these dividing songs, because we cannot afford to be silent.
‘South Africa it is time to speak up and stand up for righteousness.’
