In a moving display of faith and unity, the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo gathered for a special “Police Sunday” service at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa, Mankweng.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, together with Ms Kedibone Lebea, Chairperson for the Portfolio Committee on Transport and Community Safety, and SAPS leadership, attended the event as part of their ongoing commitment to partnership policing.
This annual occasion honours and uplifts police members, recognising their sacrifices and seeking God’s protection over those who serve on the frontlines of community safety. It is also a time for prayer, reflection, and gratitude.

Lieutenant General Hadebe encouraged the congregation to join a social movement in the fight against crime, highlighting that lasting change requires the combined efforts of law enforcement and the community.
A call to prayer
As believers, we are reminded of the biblical mandate to pray “for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life” (1 Timothy 2:2). Our police officers carry a heavy burden, often facing danger to protect the public. They need our ongoing spiritual support.

Prayer pointers:
- Pray for God’s protection over every police officer and their families.
- Pray for wisdom, discernment, and courage in their daily duties.
- Pray for integrity and righteousness in leadership and decision-making.
- Pray for unity between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
- Pray for the light of Christ to shine in every police station and patrol.
Encouragement from Scripture:
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God” (Matthew 5:9).
When we pray for our police officers, we are standing with those called to be peacemakers in our land. Their role is not easy, but through God’s grace and the prayers of His people, they can serve with strength and integrity.
Let us commit to lifting our police force before the Lord regularly, trusting that He will protect, guide, and equip them in the battle against crime.
