FEBA SA is constantly in contact with its partners in Mozambique and has now received bad news again of an Islamic terrorist insurgency that is destroying people’s lives. The jihadists are now also active in Niassa Province. Civilians suffer, are expelled from their neighborhoods, and congregate in large groups in temporary camps with no foodstuffs available to them. A large group of refugees fled to the Marrupa Primary School and are without any clothing or masks to protect them from COVID. The people are suffering tremendously.
These new developments have been brewing for some time and sometimes it seems that peace is only a pipe dream for Mozambique’s citizens. Since 2017, an Islamic militant insurgency in Cabo Delgado has caused great unrest and FEBA has heard horror stories of devastation, genocide and beheadings. In April 2021, a series of jihadist attacks invaded Mozambique’s remote Cabo Delgado province and wreaked havoc. Thousands of people were killed in the attacks and an estimated one million people were uprooted because they had to flee for their lives.
Against this background, the FEBA team is still doing their job and spreading the gospel through radio and online broadcasts. FEBA SA helps where they can in the areas where the listener clubs used to be very active and are now being disrupted by the jihadists’ acts of destruction. The need in Mozambique is high and the government is also not offering any help or outcome to the civilians. These people need our prayers; and your support in this regard is requested.
