As Spirit of Enterprise Catalyst, he has already helped six churches launch the course in 2021, and the first four graduates are now running their own business. A further 20 have signed up to take part in 2022.

Geoff says he’s excited that he will be able to combine his experience of leading Spirit of Enterprise with developing the other NAYBA programmes in the UK and Ireland.

He said: “This is a really great opportunity for me to be able to build on the experiences I’ve had through engaging churches with the Spirit of Enterprise to now being able to take that further with Replicate projects and Impact Audits.

We want to see more churches engage with their community through our transformative programmes and able to demonstrate the value and contribution that they’re making through their work.”

Geoff has run his own consultancy business for charities and was also a part of British Youth for Christ’s national leadership team. Whilst there, he founded Reflex, a programme to help young offenders.

Reflex offers young offenders non-formal education and support by helping them gain new skills so they can find employment when leaving prison.

He added: “To be asked to be part of this movement is a great opportunity. Coming out of all of the restrictions from Covid, we’ve built momentum around the Spirit of Enterprise. We’re seeing churches engage with that and for me in the next 12 months, it’s about establishing that momentum in the other two areas as well.”

NAYBA CEO Matt Bird welcomed Geoff’s appointment to as UK National Leader. He said: “NAYBA UK is delighted to have appointed a leader with Geoff’s knowledge, experience and skills in working with local churches across the UK and Ireland.

“His appointment comes at the perfect moment as churches see recognise that they must grasp the opportunity to spread hope in their communities at a very challenging time.”
