“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” – Psalm 46:1
Are you feeling overwhelmed by things that you cannot control? The stress of the state of our government – relentless corruption, deteriorating health services, the constant interference in the education system, the ever-rising cost of living, and not to mention the raging wars going on.
Weighed down
This all weighs us down as it is seemingly out of our hands to put a stop to any of it or to do anything about it. We spend hours stressing and worrying and end up losing our peace.
What is God’s Word on this?
In the gospels, Jesus shows us a way to prevent feeling overwhelmed. He often retreated or went away by Himself to spend time with the Father. He left His responsibilities for a while (Mark 1:35).
Fill up your cup
It’s not selfish to retreat, in fact – it’s necessary. We need to strengthen ourselves and be filled with the Lord’s peace. People look to us, Christians, to show them where to find hope. So, if you are feeling this way, do everything you can to renew and refresh your spirit and bounce back filled and “on fire” for Jesus!
