What is PAPA?
The Prestigious Annual Predecessors Awards (PAPA) is an annual Honorary Awards that is “hosted in various continents under the Appreciation project, to celebrate predecessors from various walks of life who have left their footprints in the sands of time.”
The initiative was birthed over ten years ago and initiated in 2022. The Predecessors Awards Worldwide is a registered NGO under the Relevant Achievers Impacting Nations, otherwise known as RAIN Foundation.
The PAPA Lead team
The Lead team is made up of a group of believers who are predominantly from Ghana but carry global impact and influence. Focus on Legacy
God expects every one of us to leave behind a good legacy and footprint that will impact generations to come.
One of the five pillars and areas of focus for PAPA revolves around legacy. The PAPA awards and initiative focuses on capturing the footprints of individuals who are making impact in their communities and leaving blueprints behind for continuation. Their Legacy Project facilitates the publishing of books for all honorees of the annual awards. These books tell the stories of each of the predecessors and relates their victories as well as struggles, trials and tribulations. From these books, many lessons can be gleaned that will help the coming generation in setting their own legacies.

Sixteen honourees from various African nations were recognised and given awards on that evening. Honourees from SADC, the Southern African Development Community nations included former Prime Minister of Eswatini, HE Absalom Themba Dlamini (in the Leadership category) and former Minister of Health, Dr. Phetsile Dlamini (Health category). Honourees from South Africa included Dr. Pearl Kupe (Business category) and Pastor Chris Mathebula (Philanthropy), the latter two who are also JOY! Magazine contributors.

Capturing history
Another great feature of the PAPA awards lies in capturing the stories of each honoree. This is particularly important for Africa and contributes to the development of African history.
To a large extent, the history of Africa has been told by others from outside of the continent and has been presented in a very biased, inaccurate and negative way. By capturing the stories of individual African nation builders, this is contributing to the accurate capturing of African history and ultimately changing the narrative of Africa
