Having to make potentially life or death decisions every day, while you stand by and witness human suffering that you are powerless to control, will make you feel helpless. This is the dark reality for thousands of doctors and nurses around the world.

The unpredictability of the pandemic makes hearts receptive
Medical professionals who often root their beliefs in the supposed predictability of science, found their foundation to be weak. Ironically, God is using the unpredictability of this pandemic to win the hearts of those who otherwise would have never even considered putting their trust in God.

During the pandemic the medical personnel on the front lines need hope and encouragement.

Overwhelmed by human suffering and fear
An ambulance doctor from Russia, whose life is overwhelmed by human suffering and fear, had to confront her helplessness and feelings of inadequacy as a medical professional. Day after day she visits dozens of COVID-19 patients and takes many of them to hospitals that are already at full capacity.

Life and death decisions
She described the heavy burden of having to decide whom to admit and whom to send home, “We cannot take everyone. Making these potentially life and death decisions everyday has become routine, but believe me I am not playing God. It is just the opposite, I feel exhausted and small.”

FEBA programmes bring hope
Her sense of disillusionment in human strength and her own ability as a doctor prompted her to start asking questions about God. This led her to start listening to the our programmes, which she also introduced to her entire crew, the driver, and two paramedics. They now listen to a part of the programme almost every day.

The knowledge that God cares
She said, “Every time we listen, we are blessed, encouraged, and uplifted. We often have tears in our eyes, or are left with a smile. None of us were religious. Like most other people we were not militant atheists, but also never really paid attention to questions of God. Let me tell you, we are not like everyone else now! Because of your programmes, we now know that God cares for us and that He is involved in our lives. I don’t know about the other crew members, but I am praying to Jesus every day and I know that all our team members are very blessed by your programmes.”

Hundreds of listeners have accepted Christ
FEBA’s radio ministries in the Ukraine and Russia are reaching more people than ever before. Listeners are crying out for help and recognise their need for God. In response to the high demand from listeners, the radio team increased the number of programmes that provide hope and spiritual support. Additionally, they have also established a new online and on-air prayer programme. According to their reports, hundreds of listeners have accepted Christ.

God is using the pandemic to open doors
God is opening doors during this pandemic and hearts are more open than ever before to receive Him. Even the most knowledgeable, educated, and skilled people can no longer trust in their own strength.
