The conflict in Mali seems never-ending. Our source from our station recently shared with us that mercenaries from mainly neighboring countries have completely infiltrated the country. Despite this our teams outreach work is very active in all areas that are safe and accessible. Most roads are inaccessible for people who travel by motorbike during the current rainy season.

The economy has been severely affected by the current ongoing conflict, and the situation at local and national levels is such that the team has had to change their broadcast schedules to focus mostly on evangelism and news broadcasts. Very little time is devoted to broadcasting secular music. The team evangelizes in Bambara – a language which almost all ethnic groups in Mali understand.

The people in Mali, really need the hope of the gospel which our station brings to the community. There is a great need for spiritual, psychological, and even physical well-being.

Testimonies continue to stream in at KanuYah FM. It is incredible to see how people’s lives are completely transformed. One of the latest testimonies we received is a demonstration of the impact of the gospel;

“I am a young man aged 32, named Joman Sylla. Until recently, I was dealing with idol worship. I made idols, sold idols and bought idols out of faith, not just for the love of the business. I used to harm people, even destroying the lives of many. Still, I always wanted to have greater power to control everyone in the community. I know more than anyone that the more power you get, the more you hunger for even greater power. I knew how much I was feared and felt all high and mighty.

One Sunday evening, I was listening to KanuYah FM Sollo and heard a preacher state bluntly: “How can you turn your back on your Creator and kneel down to a product of your own craft and imagination to ask for help? Can your god feel your presence, move, see, hear what you are saying and talk to you? Are you not fooling yourself? Will you continue to live in this self-delusion until the day you die only to discover that you are not saved?”

It was as if the preacher were talking to me and me alone. The next day I listened to another sermon, where the preacher said that no sin is too much to be forgiven and that we are saved by the grace of God if we truly become followers of His Son Jesus Christ. I contacted a local pastor who led me to Christ after teaching me a few lessons on the Bible. Today, I am a free man, having gotten rid of all my idols and I stopped all the sacrifices I used to offer them. What a happy life is the true Godly life!”
