David Irondi, Ministry Assistant to the TWR West-Africa Ministry Director, visited Ghana in 2018 to represent the region and to evaluate the impact of the various TWR programmes aired in Ghana. He was invited to participate in the live Thru the Bible (TTB) broadcast in the Twi language in September. “We received a cross section of the TTB Twi listeners who came from all over Kumasi and the surrounding towns – It was a glorious and wonderful time of fellowship,” he says.
TWR Radio ministry in Ghana
Reverend Collins Boadi, a radio pastor at Oyerepa FM, fell in love with the TWR ministry and started presenting the TWR programme ‘Bible mu nante’, locally translated ‘Bible Walk’ (or as we know it – Thru the Bible) in the Twi language in 2014. “One of the greatest influences in my life is the TTB programme,” he says. He has a rich experience in broadcasting, having been involved in the radio industry for the past decade.
Great involvement from community
Apart from the quality of the TTB Twi content, the wonderful story behind the success of TTB in Ghana can be directly attributed to the passion of Reverend Boadi. He does not simply air the programmes; he transformed the broadcast into a Bible School series followed by a time of fellowship. The Oyerepa FM Facebook page streams the one-and-a-half-hour live airing of the programme, including the subsequent Bible Quiz and the interactive session that comes at the end. The love for this programme is evident by the fact that every day from 3 am through 6 am, thousands of Twi speakers in Kumasi are awake, following the live streaming on Facebook. This created a wonderful fraternity between listeners as they call in from all over the city and send in their comments on Facebook and WhatsApp.
Proclaiming the Gospel
Rev. Boadi currently serves as head pastor of the Kingdom Temple International (KTI) of the Ghana branch in Kumasi. He is married to Gladis Boadi and they have five children. Now 43 years old, Boadi says he repented at an age of 7 and has served the Lord Jesus ever since.
“I started to preach in schools at the age of 9 with a friend and a brother, Pastor Godfred Adomako. When I was 15 years old, we started to preach at market centres. We continued preaching in schools and markets until I travelled outside Ghana at the age of 27. When I returned two years later, we continued.”
“I have held more than 200 crusades in and around Kumasi and still hold crusades every year . . . In fact, I preach salvation messages anywhere opportunity presents itself,” he recalls.
Drawing souls to Christ
His goal is to preach in villages, towns, cities, and countries where the knowledge of Christ is limited or where people have not heard of Jesus. “TWR programmes are really educating people and drawing souls to Christ in Ghana. I think adding more languages will help meet the goals of TWR,” Rev. Boadi concludes.
Following his visit to Ghana, David received this message of thanks from Rev. Boadi:
“Dear Pastor, I want to thank God for TWR’s visit to our region this month, may God bless you for all you are doing towards the progress and advancement of the Kingdom of God! Your visit was a great blessing to me, to the ministry in Kumasi, Ghana, and to God’s people who listen to our programmes . . . So many testimonies are coming in, some of which I will share with you here, also with the testimonies are challenges, that we can face together to the glory of God.”
“Dear Pastor, I was so blessed and excited to follow your programmes on the radio during my visit to Kumasi, unfortunately, when I leave Kumasi to go home, I cannot tune in to the programmes, but I deliberately came back to Kumasi again to spend a few more days, just to listen to more of your teachings. I will appreciate it if you can send me some of these programmes on a USB drive – I am greatly edified every time I listen to these teachings! May God bless you and the Bible Mu Nante people.”
