WELL DONE SOUTH AFRICA!
A big congratulations to all our Joy magazine readers and citizens of South Africa. This is what active citizenry is all about, taking responsibility for manning the gates of the nation.
On May 09, 2025 we made a call to action, along with others in a Joy article mobilizing citizens of South Africa to vehemently oppose the application submitted to the IEC for the registration of ISA, Islamic State of Africa political party. In the article reasons were advanced as to why the application should be opposed. Special thanks to all who helped draft a response and to compile the article.
The article also had instructions circulated on how to object to the registration of this political parties and email address.
The deadline date for making submissions was May 19,2025.
You listened & you responded and took action and the IEC on the 12th July responded to deny the application for the registration of ISA.
One of the grounds it listed for denying the application was directly linked to one of our ground of objection. The IEC stated that “….. the CEO received over 200 objections from individuals and organisations who argued that the constitution of ISA espouses “the intention to develop policies based on Sharia law”.
“. It is the submission of the objectors that part of ISA’s constitution is “antithetical to the secular and inclusive nature of the principles underpinning the South African constitutional order and registering ISA would cause serious offence to a section of the population”.
