In life, there are things we choose and there are those that destiny chooses for us. I have learnt to never be ashamed over things that are a result of circumstances beyond my control. Nobody chooses the colour of their skin, which family to be born into, not even their gender. All these are chosen for us by God.

On the other hand, we can choose our friends, our vocation, career, and quality of lifestyle. Being a Devoted Citizen means understanding that your life is not an accident, irrespective of the circumstances that surround your parentage.

Maximise your potential
The combined skills of over 58 million citizens can surely transform the fortunes of a country for the better, if they each identify their purpose and maximise the use of their gifts. The nation of South Africa is blessed to have you and your unique contribution!

What are you doing?
Yes, there is a lot of bad stuff happening. I think of poverty, homelessness, unemployment, crime, and the list goes on and on. What are you doing about these problems? If you are unemployed, how about volunteering your time or asking someone if they could teach you a skill that can make you employable. Do something!

Shift your focus
Shift your focus from hopeless to hopeful. Find your purpose and transform the repetitive misfortunes in your community. When you look for an excuse not to do something, you will find one or even more. It is never too late. There is honour in completing what you started. Every person should have and know the purpose for their life.

How do you become positive?

  • Take the first step in faith.
  • Take actions to reduce the cause of your stress.
  • Encourage yourself to do better!
  • Alleviate worry and stop grumbling.
  • Above all, identify your purpose.

Ask yourself this question, “What problem/s was I brought to earth to solve?”

You could bring the solution!
You may be wondering what sense of purpose has to do with being a Devoted Citizen? Well, you sure cannot withdraw something if you haven’t first deposited it in the bank account of your life. By living your purpose and selflessly sharing your skills, you may be able to solve some of your country’s toughest problems.
