A News24 article reported, concerns were raised at the recent ANC national working committee meeting that DA and Patriotic Alliance (PA) ministers are outshining their ANC counterparts in the Government of National Unity (GNU). The ANC denied the report.
However, despite ANC denials, one cannot help notice the flurry of positive activity by non-ANC ministers in the GNU. I predicted this would happen in previous newsletters. The outright majority the ANC enjoyed in Parliament since 1994 made them lazy and arrogant.
It’s not that DA, PA, and FF+ ministers are doing anything extraordinary. They are simply doing what they are elected to do. However, ANC ministers are being exposed because there is no real expectation for them to fulfil their public duties or even act with integrity.
Corrupt and incompetent ANC ministers had no outside competition for decades. The GNU has ended the former governing party’s honeymoon of ineptitude. The ANC’s cadre deployment policy and its protection of corrupt officials is now being exposed for what it is.
I doubt anybody is surprised that ANC ministers are being outperformed. Its record over the past three-decades is dismal. ANC governance is marked by rampant corruption, the unrestrained looting of tax-payers money, tender-fraud, money-laundering, racketeering, gross maladministration and the destruction of once world-class public enterprises.
For example, three decades of ANC majority governance enabled the “mafia state.” Much has been written about the “construction mafia” but little has been done to arrest and prosecute these powerful criminal networks that apparently fund certain political parties.
However, the DA Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson has quickly set his sights on the “construction mafia” to demolish it. The Department of Home Affairs has been mired in corruption for decades. Again, it appears a minister outside the ANC will have to stop the rot because successive ANC ministers have failed to do so.
The DA Minister of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube has recently met with independent school bodies and religious groups to discuss their concerns. Her predecessor, Angie Motshekga treated civil-society groups with contempt – especially those opposed to the Department of Basic Education’s policy of sidelining parents to indoctrinate their children.
The PA Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gayton Mackenzie has already exposed and stopped corrupt activities in his department. FF+ Minister of Correctional Services, Pieter Groenewald’s department launched a raid on a major prison in JHB uncovering contraband that included, drugs, weapons, cell-phones and more. More raids on prisons are expected.
The ANC NEC convened recently to assess its devastating losses at the General Elections. Joel Netshitenzhe’s election assessment essentially attributed the ANC’s decline to loss of voter confidence in the former liberation movement. More than 20 million eligible voters did not register to vote on 29 May because they lost confidence in democracy.
However, the report did not mention the ANC’s allegiance to totalitarian and terrorist groups nor its subservience to UN agency abortion and LGBTQ agendas that assault critical social institutions like marriage, the family and parental authority to sexualise innocent children.
Thankfully, the GNU is re-directing government policy away from ANC ideology. The ANC mis-governed SA for its own self-interest for three-decades. Ministers actually serving in the best interest of citizens begins a new dispensation of government for the people.
ANC formulated legislation like the “Single Marriage Bill,” “Hate Crimes Laws,” “BELA Bill,” legalised prostitution,” and policies like “Comprehensive Sexuality Education,” “Radical Gender Ideology” and the “Global Pandemic Treaty” are all influenced by foreign entities.
The GNU provides the best opportunity for citizens to be heard on the policy direction of the country. The ANC no longer possess the majority to ram its ideological agenda through Parliament. Let’s try government of the people, by the people and for the people this time.
