Even while orbiting on the International Space Station, astronaut Victor Glover made sure not to neglect his daily faith practices.
I love sunrises and sunsets. Can you see the bands of color? They remind me of the scripture in Psalm 30, “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” It seems darkest just before sunrise. I wish you all love and light. Along with his encouragement to hold fast to Psalm 30, Glover dedicates his work as a pioneer in the space industry to the next generation. In a Zoom call, Glover spoke with current students of his alma mater, California Polytechnic State University, and supported their engineering dreams as people of color.
“So I want to encourage you to keep doing what you’re doing because you guys are making the world a better place,” Glover said.
He continued, “The greatest challenges you’re going to face are from within,” sharing how he stays grounded, even in space, by reading his Bible and staying strong in his faith.
