“Intercession is the most powerful and practical way to unite our lives with the purposes of God.” (John Piper)

What Is Happening?
Monday 8 May was declared a national day of mourning after devastating floods and landslides last week claimed the lives of more than 400 people, injuring hundreds more and leaving dozens still missing. In addition, there has been significant damage to property and livelihoods. The floods add to an ongoing humanitarian crisis in the eastern DRC due to decades of violence from multiple armed groups.

Why Is This Important?
Disasters are not a new phenomenon, but for those affected it can be devastating and life changing. Into such calamities, Jesus offers compassion and love through His Body of believers, locally and internationally. Opportunities to assist impacted communities abound, both in the short and long term.

Pray:
• for an outpouring of effective assistance, both from the DRC government and international community
• for those who have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods
• for Christ followers to actively demonstrate His love for these shattered communities
