On 15 March 2020, South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, declared a national state of disaster in terms of the Disaster Management Act. The national state of disaster was initially set to lapse on 15 June 2020 but was extended by the COGTA (cooperative, Governance & Traditional Affairs) Minister, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma. Last night, on Thursday 04 April, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced in a national address to the nation of South Africa that the State of Disaster would come to an end at midnight of the same day. Many South Africans celebrated and were excited at the thought of the demise of a twenty five month long “state of disaster” scenario. Under this state of disaster, citizens and all those living in South Africa, were subjected to unreasonable and unjustified measures which were enacted purportedly to contain a virus which has an over 98% survival rate. Covid, is a virus that has an extremely high survival rate and has been shown to successfully respond to various types of treatment such as ivermectin and hydroxychloroquin. It was erroneously labelled a pandemic, when the science shows that the annual statistics for TB have always been much higher than the covid statistics.  It begs the question as to whether covid 19 was ever a disaster.

Fallacy or truth : Was covid ever a disaster?
Covid has never been scientifically proven to be a disaster. When compared with other diseases and viruses, covid qualifies at best as an endemic, not pandemic disease. On 13th January, the SA Health department announced that consultations were under way in South Africa to consider transitioning it from treating COVID-19 as a pandemic to an endemic disease. This would essentially mean that the virus would be treated similarly to the flu. South Africa was not the only nation considering downgrading covid from pandemic status to endemic status. Spain was one of the first nations to consider doing the same. The truth of the matter is that covid-19 is simply a variant of flu and should never have been afforded “disaster status”.  The fact that PCR tests have been shown to be incapable of distinguishing between covid and flu, is further evidence that this SARS virus is a variant of flu and should be treated in the same manner and fashion as all previous flu variants.

Promulgation of Health Act

  • A summary of the proposed Health regulations has been made by the movement Dear South Africa. The summary states that:
  • “All people entering or exiting South Africa during a pandemic should present negative PCR tests not older than 72 hours in the event they do not have a vaccination certificate.
  • Continued restrictions will be placed on night vigils and after-funeral gatherings.
  • Indoor and outdoor gatherings may be occupied up to 50% of the venue capacity, provided valid vaccine certificates are produced. For gatherings where no valid vaccine certificates are required, artificial limits of 1,000 and 2,000 people will apply for indoor and outdoor gatherings, respectively.
  • Social distancing of one metre must be maintained.
  • Face masks will be compulsory for indoor gatherings, people cannot enter public premises or make use of public transport without a mask.
  • The regulations also leave the door open for other restrictions, labelled as ‘advice giving’ between different departments. This advice can relate to curfew, national lockdown, economic activity and the sale of alcohol, among others.”

The above provisions have obviously been pulled from the previous Disaster Management Act and regulations. In realising that they could not indefinitely hang onto the Disaster management Act, the government surreptitiously sneaked these disaster management provisions into the Health regulations so they could become permanently applicable. Should these regulations be approved and passed, they will create a scenario for a permanent, but unjustifiable State of disaster!! Should this happen, it will then be false to say that the State of disaster has been removed.

Call to action: Public Submissions
The call for public submissions remains. On checking the number of submissions made on the Dear South Africa network, at 15h46 on Tuesday 05 April, there were 142, 798 submissions. This is a substantial number. It would be folly for the South African government to ignore  the voices of those who have made submissions. We urge remaining South Africans to make submissions urgently to avoid a scenario where we are unwittingly placed under a permanent state of disaster, in the absence of any disaster. The only disaster currently existing are the unnecessary and unjustified laws that are being promulgated. Please use the link below to make your submissions:

Call to action. Public march & protest
On April 13, the ACDP will be having a march to the Constitutional Court to defend the rights of Churches and the Body of Christ. The regulations are inadvertently targeted at Christian assemblies as they deny them the right to gather in the usual fashion, when other businesses are continuing to trade without being hampered or hindered.

The gathering will meet at 10h00 at Beyers Naude Square on Helen Joseph Street in Johannesburg and march to the constitutional Court on Constitutional Hill.

The nation is invited to join this very critical march!

End of State of disaster
The truth of the matter is that the criteria used to place South Africa into a disaster status was unscientific and unjustified. The consequences of the many blunders and errors made jointly by COGTA and the Health Ministry has cost South Africa the following:

  1. Loss of lives through forced and unnecessary vaccinations, whereby some individuals died from serious adverse effects;
  2. Life long health problems as a result of mandatory vaccination policies;
  3. Gross economic loss for individual businesses and at a business sectors at a national level. Many businesses will never recover from this unjustified lockdown!;
  4. Unnecessary emotional trauma and stress on families and individuals who have had to Iive unnecessarily with disaster management rules that only brought huge uncalled for pain and suffering to the nation.

Come on South Africa! Let’s rise to the challenge and stand for our constitutional rights and freedom of religion!
