Life Child is a non-profit welfare organisation that exists to reach orphan and vulnerable children and restore communities for generational change. Life Child is impacting children, families, communities and nations creating sustainability through Education, Health and Nutrition, Social and Spiritual Development.
Purpose: To fulfil the financial bookkeeping requirements for two non-profit organisations (Life CHURCH and Life CHILD)
Location: Sea Point, Cape Town
Reporting to: Financial Manager
Hours of Work: 3 days a week
Nature of contract: Part-time

Responsibilities:
- Bookkeeping to trial balance (Line items per month for both entities: Payments 300-320, Receipts 280-300 most of which are pre-mapped)
- Bookkeeping of petty cash (approx. 40 line items per month for both entities)
- Processing monthly journals (accruals, provisions)
- Performing monthly reconciliations
- Preparing weekly cash flow reports for distribution to the Finance Team
- VAT reconciliations
- Customers – Raising 4-5 monthly invoices and reconciling the accounts.
- Efiling – VAT201 and EMP201 submissions
- General office management to ensure the correct management of document flow
- Allocate transactions according to donor requirements
- Note: Making payments is specifically excluded from the job description
Experience:
- Pastel (solid, Pastel Project Code experience an advantage)
- Excel (solid, ability to handle complicated Excel formulae)
- Database management (solid)
- VAT (good)
- PAYE (good)
- Experience in financial accounting for non-profit organisations, as well as understanding of challenges faced by non-profit sector
Requirements:
- Subscribes to Christian principles
- Called to be in the non-profit sector
- Excellent organisational, planning, coordination and time management skills
- Financial understanding and structure
- Problem solver, accurate and attention to detail
- Personal integrity, neat, reliable, honest, self-disciplined
- Good communication skill with the ability to resolve queries and processing errors
