There has been a huge spike in the numbers of Jews in the US and in France who are considering moving to Israel since the worldwide increase in antisemitic attacks that followed the Oct. 7 massacre of Israeli civilians by Hamas, and Israel’s response in Gaza, the Jerusalem Post reports.

According to a recent report published by Israel’s Aliyah and Integration Minister Ofir Sofer, France has seen a 149% increase in Jews looking into immigration to Israel, while the US has seen an 81% increase in such interest.

In a press release, the Aliyah and Integration ministry said Sofer has “actively engaged in emergency discussions with key security and international agencies,” JPost reports.

Sofer has reportedly instructed his ministry to prepare for a large wave of Jewish immigrants to Israel, JPost said. “We are in a state of emergency,” the minister said in a statement. “The reports I have been receiving are very concerning. Our goal now is to strengthen the ties between us and support the communities that stand with Israel.”

“Precisely now, we are seeing a surge in the number of people interested in aliyah,” Sofer continued. The waves of unity and Jewish solidarity are bolstering the aliyah movement and strengthening the State of Israel. The State of Israel awaits everyone,” Sofer said.
