“Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone with shouts of ‘grace, grace to it!’ … The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; His hands shall also finish it, then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you” (Zech 4:7, 9).
Anchor to the soul
In the marketplace, one of the most certain things is that opposition will always try to stop what God is doing through His beloved. So often, we start with zeal, but as persecution comes, we become weary. We forget that Jesus is our capstone. When God has given instruction, and we obey, the certainty that it has already had the surety of the final touch to the project, the capstone, is like an anchor to the soul.
A tool and a sword
I continually remind myself that when the walls of Jerusalem were restored, those working on them had to do it with a tool in one hand and a sword in the other! They knew how important rebuilding the walls was for the protection of their city, and as they worked diligently, they had to fight off the onslaught of the enemy.
What is your vision?
I encourage you to set the capstone in your vision even before you start the process. In today’s terms, we may speak of a vision or objective. What is the purpose of your business or a project you are working on? Then shout, “Grace, grace to it!” Knowing that the grace of God has already been released to empower you to finish. Most days, we focus on our business tools, but, dear Kingdom builder, when we walk powerfully in the marketplace, we must have the sword of the Spirit and dress accordingly in the armour of God! While we work and stay consistent, no matter the circumstances, the Spirit of God will move powerfully on our behalf. Let the sword of the Spirit be in your mouth, heart, and hands while you do the will of the Father.
God honours faith
Keep your eye on the capstone and don’t stop until the job is done! God honours faith in Him. Remember this: “And now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or work is of men, it will come to nothing, but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it – lest you even be found to fight against God” (Acts 5:38-39). When we work as unto the Lord, God always fights for us!
