Following a virtual Dept of Home Affairs (DHA) consultation with religious leaders on the “Green Paper on Marriages in SA,” (I participated) the DHA released a brief Questionnaire to elicit the publics views on the “contentious issues covered in the Green Paper.”

There are five questions in the DHA Questionnaire addressing issues like polyandry (a woman marrying more than one man), the legal age for marriage, consent to marriage, royal and customary marriages and whether it should be compulsory for all marriage officers – civil or religious – to solemnise all forms of marriage and civil unions in South Africa.

Significantly, however, the DHA omitted the most contentious issue of all from the Questionnaire, which is, “Should marriage be redefined to include same-sex and transgender unions?” Redefining marriage is the “Green Paper’s” most destructive policy proposal.

With just one week left to comment on the “Green Paper on Marriages in SA” and the “DHA Questionnaire” (deadline 30 June 2021) I appeal to you to please urgently visit the “SA Public Speaks’ online portal and comment on both documents to register your views.

We designed an online form at www.sapublicspeaks.co.za that includes all the necessary information to comment on the “Green Paper.” All you have to do is add a few paragraphs (in your own words), why you support retaining the definition of man, woman marriage in law.

We included the “DHA Questionnaire” on the ‘SA Public Speaks’ portal to assist you to quickly and easily respond to it. We also added the question about redefining marriage in the (question F) column. All you must do is fill in your reasons for opposing redefined marriage.

I include my completed Questionnaire as a guide. Please give reasons in your own words.

Both the “Green Paper on Marriages in SA” and the “DHA Questionnnaire” will go directly to the Department of Home Affairs when you submit the forms.

The “Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act” (PEPUDA) Amendment Bill is the most serious threat against free speech and religious freedoms in South Africa. In fact, this Bill is so radical it is reminiscent of apartheid era legislation.

The “PEPUDA Amendment Bill”  extends the scope of the definition of unfair discrimination so widely, it will have a chilling effect on free speech and religious freedoms. Citizens could be accused and prosecuted for discrimination – whether they intend it or not.

Both the agenda to redefine marriage and the PEPUDA Amendment Bill are demands of UN agencies and global sexual rights groups. SA public policy is mostly influenced by foreign groups to advance the destructive abortion and sexual rights agenda of global radicals.

Global sexual rights groups manipulate the law to criminalise any criticism of the LGBTQ social agenda. Tragically, religious beliefs and convictions are increasingly rejected as justifiable reasons to disagree with LGBTQ lifestyles. Tolerance has quickly morphed into forced compliance as sexual rights radicals demand validation from Biblical Christians.

The Dept of Justice issued this background note to briefly outline its radical proposals.

The broadening of the scope of what defines discrimination and equality is unreasonable. The removal of intentionality is also a frightening prospect. The PEPUDA Amendment Bill will undoubtedly trigger a flood of litigation against the Church for simply believing the Bible.

Please make your voice heard by writing to Ms F Bhayat at fbhayat@justice.gov.za The deadline for submissions is 30 June 2021. Please note, every submission matters.
