Jewish communities will celebrate Passover from the evening of the 8th April till 16th April this year, remembering how God saved them from slavery and set them free to serve Him and to be restored to Him in a renewed relationship!
The restoration of Israel in 1948 must be the single biggest miracle of the modern era!
Obedience to God
The land that He had set apart for them would be His ‘home’ for Israel, His bride. Jerusalem would be the City of the King, and the Temple would be the ‘wedding chamber’ where He would meet with them. They would however disobey their God and bring upon themselves the curses that He had warned them about. Their blessings in the land would be dependent on their obedience to God.
“Then the anger of the Lord was aroused against this land, to bring on it every curse that is written in this book. And the Lord uprooted them from their land in anger, in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.” – Deuteronomy 29:27-28
Prophesying what was to come
And yet the prophet Jeremiah wrote about a day that was to come, “O behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when they will no longer say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites out of the land of Egypt.’ Instead they will say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought and led the descendants of the house of Israel up out of the land of the north and out of all the other countries to which I had banished them.’ Then they will dwell once more in their own land.” – Jeremiah 23:7-8
Restoration of His people
We have witnessed the miracle of the restoration of His people back to their promised land, just as He said He would do in the latter days, promising that He will prosper and multiply them more than he did their fathers (Deut 30:4-5).
“Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, ‘He who scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him as a shepherd does his flock.’” – Jeremiah 31:10
