WHAT IS HAPPENING?
Malawi is experiencing its highest cholera outbreak on record. Authorities have stressed the need for proper handling of cholera victims and decontamination procedures. Last week, the death toll passed 1,000 and active cases rose to 30,621.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
In 2021, Malawi recorded only two cases – almost eradicating cholera. However, the government now struggles to contain the surge in cases. God is the creator and sustainer of life – no part of the world is outside of His lordship and reach – including this outbreak.
Pray
• for a breakthrough and that the government will tackle this outbreak wisely and effectively
• for the Lord to comfort those who have lost loved ones and to sustain weary health workers
• for believers to display the compassionate heart of Christ – even if they too may be suffering
