The World Health Organization (WHO) intensified its quest to control the emergency health policies of every UN member state by amending the International Health Regulations (IHR) in its Global Pandemic Treaty. The IHR amendments include deliberately vague provisions.
On 1 June 2024, the WHO adopted the Amended IHRs through a short-circuited process. The adoption occurred without adequate legal review in many member states. The IHR amendments extends the WHO’s authority to declare a public health emergency in countries like South Africa and determine measures like lockdowns, vaccines and testing.
On 17 July I sent an urgent letter to Health Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi and DA leader, John Steenhuizen alerting them to the fact – the revised IHR is a grave threat to SA’s national sovereignty. UN member-states had until 19 July to reject the revised IHR provisions.
The US formerly rejected the WHO amendments to the Pandemic Treaty citing overreach and vague provisions. US officials correctly argued the new rules give the WHO too much power in shaping global (health emergency) responses and rely on vague language.
I have not yet received feedback on the South African governments response to the revised IHR in the Pandemic Treaty. However, I will update you in my next newsletter.
Public hearings on the gender-neutral single “Marriage Bill” appears to have stalled. The Home Affairs Portfolio Committee in Parliament is tasked with convening public hearings in various provinces to allow citizens to make oral submissions on the single “Marriage Bill.”
Although the ANC regime claimed the purpose of the single “Marriage Bill” was to “rationalise the 3 existing marriage laws into one single overarching Act” – the real purpose is to redefine marriage as the union of opposite sex, same-sex and transgender couples.
The Bill will effectively strip men and women of the unique definition of marriage. LGBTQ radicals have demanded “marriage equality” since 2006, claiming the “Civil Union Act”– that regulates same-sex unions – “is discriminatory as it implies same-sex unions are inferior.”
The ANC ensured the “Marriage Bill” is deliberately gender-neutral to eradicate the terms husband and wife. It’s a key demand of LGBTQ activists. The Bill was drafted in response to the irrational demands of local and global sexual rights radicals and ignores SA citizens.
Family Policy Institute (FPI) is monitoring the progress of the “Marriage Bill” and working with its local and international pro-family partners to stop the Bill becoming law in SA.
FPI is also monitoring the ANC’s agenda to legalise the entire sex-industry in SA. The SA Law Reform Commission (SALRC) conducted a nine-year investigation into Prostitution Law Reform. The study concluded decriminalised prostitution is the worst possible policy for SA because of the high rates of poverty, unemployment and abuse of women in SA.
Significantly, FPI’s submission on Prostitution Law Reform was referenced more than fifty times in the SALRC Final Report and endorsed by multiple civil-society organizations.
The ANC tabled the “Sexual Offences Amendment Bill” in Parliament in 2022. The Bill repeals the laws that criminalise the sale and purchase of sexual services effectively legalising prostitution in SA. The ANC ignored the dire warnings in the SALRC Report.
Thankfully, however, the “Sexual Offences Amendment Bill” stalled in the previous Parliament because state law advisors warned the Bill will not pass constitutional scrutiny.
However, as a result of the Bill’s failure, the foreign-funded “Sex Workers Education & Advocacy Taskforce” (SWEAT) lodged an application at the Cape Town High Court to strike down the laws that criminalise the sale and purchase of sexual services in South Africa.
The ANC refused to oppose SWEAT’s challenge – because it fits with their sexual rights agenda. Thankfully, however, several NGO’s will oppose SWEAT’s application. The case will be heard later this year. Please pray for the lawyers and groups opposing this case.
FPI is working with its allies to oppose this harmful agenda. We will inform and educate the public about the dangers of a legalised sex-industry in SA. The majority of citizens oppose redefined marriage and legalised prostitution in SA. But we must pray and speak up now.
