President Cyril Ramaphosa’s 7th State of the Nation Address (SONA) on 9 February reinforced widely held perceptions the ANC regime is incapable of fixing the numerous crises it created. Ramaphosa droned on about creating jobs, fast tracking infrastructure development and fighting corruption – most of it unfulfilled promises repeated ad-nauseam in previous SONA’s.
Significantly, however, the declaration of a National State of Disaster to address the country’s crippling energy crisis received the most attention. Ramaphosa also announced the appointment of a “Minister of Electricity” in the presidency to focus on ending load-shedding.
Some believe the National State of Disaster will help bypass the maze of red-tape that hinder independent power producers from supplementing the grid. Mineral Resources & Energy Minister, Gwede Mantashe reportedly blocked alternative means of energy production and is pushing for a 20-year Karpowership deal with Turkey that presumably enriches ANC cadres.
The Minister of Electricity in the presidency is in addition to the Minister of Energy, the Minister of Public Enterprises and the “National Energy Crisis Committee” chaired by Ramaphosa and which include several Cabinet Ministers – who collectively, so far, are incapable of ending this crisis.
Essentially, the ANC regime declared a State of Disaster to emphasize its disastrous governance.
The governing party has failed the country miserably. Almost every sector of society is deteriorating as a result of rampant corruption and gross maladministration. The majority of municipalities have failed, education, health and the economic sector are all on life-support.
Crime appears out-of-control. Organized crime is flourishing in a poorly policed state. Kidnappings and killings by hired assassins have escalated dramatically as lawlessness abounds.
Most egregious, however, is the ANC regime’s assault on the natural family and the free exercise of religion. It advances UN agency policy directives – redefining man, woman marriage to appease global LGBTQ radicals. It also drives a wedge between parents and their children to indoctrinate them with harmful abortion and LGBTQ propaganda in the public schooling system.
Government’s push to legalize the entire sex-industry proves its claims of combating Gender-Based-Violence are false. The sex-trade is the most oppressive and exploitative industry in the world – enslaving vulnerable women and children in a life of violence, abuse and misery.
Parliament is currently finalizing the “Hate Crimes” and “PEPUDA Amendment” Bills. These draconian pieces of legislation will severely restrict religious speech and expression and punish people of faith who dare to disagree with government’s destructive anti-family ideology.
The truth is, the ANC is a criminal enterprise masquerading as a governing party. It lacks the political will, capacity or competency to govern a modern democracy like SA. The Church and civil-society must partner in a moral quest to free the nation from its mismanagement.
Other clues that indicate the nation is heading in the wrong direction is the ANC regime’s claims of neutrality while it repeatedly condemns Israel for alleged crimes against its neighbours, yet engages in joint military drills with totalitarian regimes like China and Russia, the latter whom invaded its smaller neighbour, Ukraine on 24 Feb 2022 killing thousands of its citizens.
The ANC regime is doing everything in its power to undermine democratic electoral reforms in South Africa primarily to maintain its grip on power. The Constitutional Court granted Parliament two extensions to finalise the “Electoral Amendment Bill” to allow independent candidates the right to contest the General Elections in 2024 – on an equal footing alongside political parties.
The deadline is 28 Feb 2023. The “Electoral Amendment Bill” must be finalized to provide the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) sufficient time to redraw the country’s electoral map (into voting districts) so voters can directly elect either independent or political party candidates.
New political parties are currently being formed in preparation for the 2024 General Elections. Much is at stake. Christian citizens must earnestly intercede for the nation. We must also get involved. Evil prospers when good people do nothing. But change is possible when we commit.
Most citizens agree, South Africa needs a miracle to avoid disaster. Thankfully, we serve a God of miracles. The Church must therefore take the lead in prayer & action to rescue a nation in peril.
