Even though Israel has never disclosed its nuclear inventory, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) voted that the Jewish state should dispose of whatever nuclear weapons it has.

While the Islamic Republic of Iran maintains its consistent streak of violations regarding the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), including deception regarding its nuclear facilities, the UNGA targeted Israel’s nuclear program on Friday. The vote overwhelmingly went against Israel with a 152-5 turnout, motioning that Israel should dispose of all of its nuclear weapons and hand over its nuclear sites to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The resolution called on Israel “to accede to the Treaty without further delay, not to develop, produce, test or otherwise acquire nuclear weapons, to renounce possession of nuclear weapons and to place all its unsafe guarded nuclear facilities under the full scope of Agency safeguards as an important confidence-building measure among all States of the region and as a step toward enhancing peace and security.”

A couple of dozen European countries abstained from the vote, while Canada, Israel, Micronesia, Palau, and the United States voted against the resolution. While thought to be one of the few countries with nuclear weapons, Israel has never confirmed one way or another.

Why Is This News Biblically Relevant?
“The move was as laughable as it was hypocritical, without a word being said about Iran’s race toward nuclear weaponry,” Amir Tsarfati, the Founder and President of Behold Israel, underscored in a recent article.

The United Nations has been less than shy about the bias against Israel. From 2012-2020 the UN condemned Israel a total of 180 times, in contrast to 45 times for all other nations combined.

The particular words of this resolution should also perk the ears of those familiar with Bible Prophecy. To most people, the mention of “peace and security” or “peace and safety” sounds rather benign, however, to students of Bible prophecy those words carry special significance.

In the apostle Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonian church, he writes:

1 Thess. 5:1-3 KJV – “But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.”

  1. So blatant to try and disarm one side while arming the other!!!!!! Like pitting unarmed Christians against Roman gladiators armed to the teeth! Don’t be fooled or intimidated or worn down, Israel. Once God’s chosen people, always God’s chosen people. God will fight this battle for you. Just open your minds to trust that He has sent you that Messiah He promised. His name is Jesus the Anpinted One…..Ask God if this is so.
