Despite the end of the British empire in the 1950s, the British Royal family remains hugely influential and popular throughout former colonies and beyond. Queen Elizabeth II consistently promoted evangelical Christian faith in her public addresses particularly at Christmas and published a book promoting Christian faith based on these. She chose for her personal chaplain, a biblical conservative – who attacked woke political correctness and warned that it would end in jail and martyrdom for Christians if not stopped.

Charles, her son, on the other hand, has repeatedly promoted a vague interfaith religion, saying he would rather be ‘Defender of faiths’ than ‘Defender of the faith’. The upside of this is that it may end the garbage notion of the British monarch being he head of the Anglican church inherited from Henry the eighth.

Harry and Megan chose for their wedding a liberal preacher, who sounded smooth but really muddled the Bible. Prince William’s wedding on the other hand followed a traditionalist biblical Anglican format with the inputs of an excellent evangelical modern songwriter and composer. Whether he has genuine personal faith we don’t know.
